St. Mary's Church School Adult Enquirers’ Course

Are you new to Church or thinking about coming back? Are you wondering what faith means to you?

Do you want to explore your faith more fully and share it with others?

If this sounds like you then why not join us on this friendly and informal course aimed at those who are either new to Church or want to explore their faith. It usually lasts 6 weeks and is held at the home of one of our parishioners. It’s run throughout the year so if you’re interested then please contact us...

Confirmation Classes

These are held for both adults and Children over the age of 14. They follow the syllabus in the book “This is our Faith” and offer an excellent introduction to the Christian faith, the Bible, and the Anglican Church.

Marriage Preparation Course

You have probably already spent many hours planning your wedding. There are so many things to think about - the dress, the cake, whom to invite, the honeymoon. All of these are important, but the wedding is just one day, while marriage should last for the rest of your lives.

Alongside the wedding preparations it is also important to spend time as a couple talking through your expectations of marriage. However much you think you have in common, you are still two separate individuals with different backgrounds, personalities, experiences, hopes and fears.

This short course is run throughout the year to help you plan for your wedding day and for your married life together. It discusses the vows you make, what they mean and how to keep them. For example:

•'All that I have I share with you'...How will we share our possessions and finances?

•'Will you love, comfort, honour and protect (him/her)'...How will we cope with disagreements so that we will protect our love and respect for each other for a lifetime?

•'Forsaking all others, be faithful as long as you both shall live’...How will we ensure we avoid and/or cope with temptations in order to remain faithful throughout our marriage?

•'With my body I honour you' and 'all that I am I give to you'...How will we invest in our sexual relationship throughout our whole marriage? What are our thoughts about parenting?

If you’d like more information on this course then please contact us.

Baptism Preparation

Baptism is the beginning of a relationship with God. A beginning to life in God’s Christian family. Being part of a family means growing up in the ways of that family. Learning and sharing in the love of God. This short course offers us an opportunity to better understand what is meant by baptism and how we can help a child or adult as they start their journey in faith. What is our duty as parents? What is the role of God parents? How does the Church help us develop this relationship?

We understand that many parents may not be regular church goers even though they are Christians.

The course therefore helps to prepare us for the baptism ceremony and also provides an opportunity to discover more about our own faith. Most importantly, it gives us time to reflect on how our faith will help to support this young child as they grow.

If you’d like more information on this course then please contact us. We host regular “Baptism Enquiry Evenings” which are held in the Magdalene Centre on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm

The course runs for 20 weeks and is an ideal introduction to God and Church worship for those seeking confirmation or those wanting a refresher course.
